Sorry, the Cabubble app cannot currently be downloaded from Google's Play Store. Why not?

Google has introduced "account verification" for app developers, which they say is to "keep Google Play a safe and trusted platform". As the developer of several apps published on Google Play, Cabubble Limited has always complied with requests from Google to maintain up-to-date company information on the account, and we support the concept of verifying that apps are published by legitimate accounts.

Most recently, however, Google has changed the "account verification" process such that they now demand personal contact details (photographic ID, date of birth, home address and personal telephone number) for individual members of staff who have access to Cabubble's app developer account, despite this being a designated Google business account, not a personal account. The account and all apps published using it belong to and are the responsibility of Cabubble Limited, not any individual or individuals.

At Cabubble we take privacy very seriously, and that includes the privacy of all our staff. Google has not made it clear why they require this personal information, nor what they intend to do with it.

Accordingly, we will not comply with Google's intrusive demands, and so Google has removed our apps from their Play Store. As a company, are not prepared to force any members of staff to divulge their personal information to Google, and have instead reported Google to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for requesting excessive and irrelevant personal data.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause you until this matter is resolved. In the meantime, you can still download the latest Cabubble app directly from this web page, but please note your phone will warn you about installing apps from unrecognised sources.

Please do not download the Cabubble app from anywhere except the link below. Versions published elsewhere may be unsafe.
